Ch Tyegarth Pacherenc At Seacrest

I bought Pash in from Sheila Cartwright when he was 14 months old, I had to redirect him to Seacrest, as I think Sheila had decided to sell him abroad.

Pash was a prolific winner. He was awarded his first RESERVE CC in October 1991 at the Trent boxer club under Reg Hill. His second RESERVE CC came at the 3rd show of 1992 the Scottish Boxer Club under Mary Hambleton, quickly followed by a RESERVE CC from Maureen Best at the Mancunian Boxer Club. In May, Pash took his first CC and BEST IN SHOW when Betty Lawson Whyte judged the Tyne Wear and Tees Boxer Club, and two weeks later he was awarded his second CC under Norma Brook at Bath. Following another RESERVE CC at the Anglian Boxer Club from Dutch judge Anton Renders, Pash gained his title when he received his qualifying CC at Three Counties under Sue Ballinger, gaining his title in only six weeks.

Only the day before he gained his crown, we took him for a day out at a local horse trials, where he was bitten on the testicle by a horse fly. This caused an infection which would not respond to treatment and when it began to affect his health, the decision was made for surgery. The kennel club gave me permission to show him, with a vet’s certificate, but with one testicle missing it made a difference to many judges, and after getting six 2nds in open dog, behind six different dogs, we decided to retire him from the show ring at only two years old.

Luckily, by then he had already begun to prove his worth as a producer, so he continued his career as a stud dog, and it is for this which he became famous. During an illustrious, but tragically short life, Pash was awarded seven national “Top Sire” awards.

  • TOP SIRE BOXER QUARTERTLY - 1994, 1995, and 1997
  • TOP STUD DOG WORLD 1995, 1996, & 1997
  • SIRE OF MERIT BRITISH BOXER CLUB 1996 RUNNER UP 94, 95, & 97

We were devastated when we lost Pash in 1997, two months short of his 7th birthday, from septicaemia, following an operation to remove a benign tumour from his spine, not just because he was one of the most prepotent sires at that time, but also because he was such a wonderful person. An unlucky dog in some ways, he came through illness and injury with great dignity. Although only with us for a short time, he made his mark and left a great legacy in his children. We consider ourselves so very lucky to have known such a special dog. He continually gave so much and expected so little - a real gentleman.
